Summer Means Sangria!

In the summer there is nothing I love more than sangria. Years ago I had a good friend who lived in a house that overlooked the harbor. On summer evenings we would sit on her porch and share a pitcher of sangria. These were some of our favorites. You can find them in my cookbook, Fry Bacon. Add Onions, too.

My Peach Sangria
In a large pitcher place:
½ lb. white grapes, sliced in half
1 fresh white peach, peeled, pitted and sliced
1 cup peach schnapps
Fill with a crisp Chablis, let chill overnight

My Cherry Sangria
In a large pitcher place:
½ lb. fresh, plump cherries pitted and cut in half
½ lb. fresh blackberries
1 cup good quality Kirsch (I love Kammer Black Forest Kirsch)
Fill with Merlot and let chill overnight

My Strawberry Sangria
In a large pitcher place:
½ lb. fresh strawberries, cut in half
2 tangerines, peeled, sectioned and
broken in half
1 cup Hiram Walker Tangerine Schnapps
Fill with burgundy and let chill overnight
